Electrotherapy units usually comprise of a battery-powered device with cables connecting it to adhesive electrode pads placed to the skin. The electrode pads will stick to your skin since they are adhesive. Once the electrodes are connected and the unit is turned on, a little electric current is sent to the skin via the electrode. Several new electrotherapy devices avoid the need for wires by combining electrodes and battery power in a single unit that can be worn invisibly on the back, arm, leg, or other body parts while working or doing other daily activities. A hand-held controller is used to adjust the stimulation level. While many people benefit from electrotherapy, others do not.
